Common Sense Wins in the California Supreme Court

(at least for the moment)

This makes me happy to be moving to California. Really, I don't see how anyone could see a same-sex marriage ban as constitutional in any context.

I don't see it as either constitutional or unconstitutional, really. It seems more extraconstitutional to me.

Listening to the news last night just made me irritated at the people on both sides of the issue. I wish at least one spokesman on either side had exhibited logical consistency. They kept making statements that opposed their thesis! It was maddening.

Anyway, it's a good thing you're coming during the summer--my November it may all be over. (My gut, though, tells me the constitutional amendment will fail. But we'll see. Eight years really isn't a very long time.)

Finally! It took them 10 years, but at least we got rid of that stupid thing! I remember sitting in sacrament meeting when our bishop read a letter from the first presidency (which we were told was read in every congregation in California) that said everyone needed to make sure to go out and vote for the ban. I was stunned. I couldn't believe the Church who always told me to find out for myself was telling me the way they wanted me to vote. So much for trying to figure out on my own what God wanted me to do, I guess! If I prayed and felt that God wanted me to vote against the ban I guess I must have prayed wrong. . .

Yeah, I'm glad I'll be in California so I can vote against whatever they try to pull to undo the ruling. I also have a feeling the amendment will fail, but maybe I'm overly optimistic.

JB, that's what you get for praying wrong. Maybe next time you'll do it right and get the right answer.
