- It's so versatile. It can go on crackers, in a salad, in guacamole, and the list goes on and on. (And even if it doesn't, who needs more than those three?)
- It counts as one of the 3-5 fruits you should eat every day, and, on account of its greenness, doubles as a vegetable.
- All green things are good for you.
- Avocado is very similar to abogado, which means "lawyer" in Spanish. Um. Hm. Well. Okay, maybe that's not a good thing. But it's still quite tasty!
- It has good cholesterol. I mean really, you have to be pretty darn virtuous to take something as bad as cholesterol and make it into a good thing.
- No wars have ever been fought over avocado.

Avocado in 2008
Seven reasons I'm voting for avocado:
Avocado has my vote. Well, unless it really screws up during the debates.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, FOB. Avocados Rule ( and oh, yes, bananas, too)!
ReplyDeleteGood cholesterol even helps get rid of bad cholesterol! Avocados are just that cool. Aside from the fact that they taste awesome.
ReplyDelete.
ReplyDeleteWe're thinking of planting a tree. I take it you're in favor?
Seems like you like lists almost as much as you like avocados.
ReplyDeleteWhat you see as versatility others might see as excessive flip-flopping. I have no doubt that avocado will carry much of the vegetable vote but I'd be surprised to see it get very far in the fruit community.
ReplyDeleteI don't like avocados. And I don't eat green foods.
ReplyDeleteAnd now you know the secret behind the reason why I'll never be a vegetarian.
actually... Avocados don't have cholesterol - only animal by products have that. However, it is high in mono- and poly-unsaturated fats - the good kinds of fats, like are found in olive oil. I don't want to be picky, but... well, ok maybe I do! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, sure, if you want to get all technical, avocado has the good kind of fat, which raises the good kind of cholesterol in your body. I don't see why this ad hominem attack on my candidate is necessary, though. I notice you don't have anything positive to say about your candidate's platform--just attacking mine.
ReplyDeleteSheesh. Politics.
I see only one problem with voting avacado--I eat them. I've never eaten a candidate before--but I've never really liked any political candidates either. Hmm...rethinking this...okay, maybe not a problem after all. Nevermind.

ReplyDeleteMaybe Avocado should pick Banana as a running mate. That would bring in the fruit vote. On second thought - Ewwww!!!
I didn't realize this would be such a controversial issue! 12 commnets! Wow! :)
